riding a bike is the closest I will get to flying

This is my bike. A size 54 Sage Barlow, made in Portland Oregon. I got this bike used off craigslist just at the start of the pandemic, before the bike shortage had gone into effect. I have thousands of miles on it and have loved every single one of them. The feeling of having something so completely personalized to my body and needs is unlike anything I’ve experienced. I know this bike like I know my own body and I do all my own maintenance so I have a complete understanding of it.

I’ve done so many small and large upgrades and changes to this bike as my needs and body have changed. Small tweaks to the geometry for comfort, additions to carry cargo more effectively, pointless but satisfying bling, and drive-train improvements. Most recent was switching from a 1x gear setup to a 2x to better handle the mountainous areas that I’m finding myself in.
